Five new strategic partnerships announced to deliver social housing

The new strategic partnerships give more flexibility when developing social housing.
In Budget 2024, the Government allocated $140 million of new funding for 1,500 new homes to be delivered by community housing providers, with the first 500 homes being developed using their existing pipelines.
To help deliver many of the remaining 1,000 homes, five community housing providers have been chosen to be strategic partners based on their capacity to manage and deliver quality social housing projects. The five selected providers include:
- Accessible Properties New Zealand Limited
- Community of Refuge Trust (CORT)
- Emerge Aotearoa Housing Trust
- Te Āhuru Mōwai Limited Partnership
- The Salvation Army.
This new approach marks a shift in the way we work with community housing providers, with funding already committed for over 600 homes [1] for delivery up to June 2027.
