Independent Commissioner's decision released

On 15 January 2025, the Independent Commissioner appointed by Rotorua Lakes Council to provide a determination for resource consent for Contracted Emergency Housing (CEH) in Rotorua, released his binding decision.

We acknowledge and thank all those involved, including the Commissioner, for their consideration and guidance in this process. We remain committed to ending the use of CEH motels in Rotorua before the end of 2025 and will work to exit motels ahead of the consent periods where possible.
